HITEC 2006 Exceeds Attendance Projections and Doubles Number of Participating Event Hotels in Minneapolis

Passkey Provides Crucial Online Housing Management for Entire Event

Austin, TX - June 19, 2006 - The 2006 Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) exceeded its attendance expectations and had to double the number of participating event hotels from the original contracted 6 properties to 12 in total in Minneapolis.

Attendees were able to make their hotel reservations online at any of the 12 participating hotels using Passkey’s leading online group hotel reservation system, which HITEC has used to manage its event housing for the past several years.

"With Passkey, our attendees can conveniently book their hotels online, and exhibitors can better control their room blocks,” explained Frank Wolfe, CAE, HFTP executive vice president and CEO. “The Passkey product has definitely helped us manage HITEC group reservations more effectively, and has allowed HFTP to maximize its resources and increase the quality of the overall HITEC experience. We look forward to using it again for HITEC 2007 in Orlando."

Through the Greater Minneapolis Convention & Visitors Association, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), the producers of HITEC, were able to utilize Passkey to closely monitor their room block pick-up in real-time, keeping the planner on the same page as the event hotels. Through Passkey, 56% of hotel reservations were made 30 to 60 days prior to the start of HITEC. By monitoring the booking pace, HFTP and the Minneapolis CVB were able to proactively contract more hotels to cater to the attendee demand to this popular industry event.

HITEC had 43% of their reservations booked online via Passkey, which was seamlessly integrated with Exgenex, the event’s registration system, making the registration and booking process seamless for the attendees. Through Passkey GroupLink, reservations are electronically transferred directly to the event hotels’ PMS. Since HFTP has managed their past HITEC shows in Passkey, all the event historical data is archived, making it easier for HFTP to forecast and negotiate their future hotel contracts.

“HITEC is a very important show for us,” stated Greg Pesik, Passkey president and CEO. “Making sure that HFTP has an efficient housing solution to help them manage their event is testament to the value Passkey can bring to any size event.”
